NLog MIDI Synth App Reviews

I bought it because it is Synthstation 25 compatible. Sounds great works well.

I bought this app for the SynthStation25 and it works amazingly. Allows me to modify different factory settings and save the modifications. I like the ability to record short clips(30 seconds). I wish it could work on devices without IOS 4+ though so I could put it on my old 1G touch.

Excellent this app.. Now I am able to perform live with new keytar. I didnt want to buy a keytar cuz expensive..didnt want a synth..but I did want to use my rockband midi controller. Now I have the coolest and cheapest keytar ever! The effects on the app are just what I needed. Money spent well. Do your research first and see if what you want to do is capable. Or get iPod touch with live 6 midi adapter and download this app. Bam! Your done!

Its a very good synth. I had the free version first and liked it and decided to get this. The tweakable parameters make this one of the best synths in the app store. However, the midi version only has a max polyphony of 4, while the free versions is higher. This makes playing chords harder when a sound requires unison.

Unless Im missing something, you can only import a midi file, choose a synth and play it back, but you can not save the audio of that playback. It NEEDS to be able to do this so that the audio can saved and/or be pasted into another app...

I Brought this program thinking it would be an update. I Had Brought The Earlier Ver. and removed it then when i seen this new one i thought it was an update with the MIDI phrase Draped over the front. Everything is the same as the old version, nothing different other then they added MIDI and i got Charged Twice for One Product!!! You Can Not Make Complete Songs in it, its just a synth...WOW What a P.O.S.! EVERYONE RUN, RUN FAST Get NANOSTUDIO, MUSIC STUDIO , And BEATMAKER 2 if You Want Too Make GREAT TRACKS , if you want Weak tracks Stick With nLog!!! WOW

This is a nice synth with a lot of features, and I like that it works with the Synthstation 25.

This is an amazing little synth. Actually, the only little thing about it is that it fits in my pocket. The sounds are wide ranging and very musical. The interface is gorgeous and intuitive. Programming is super fun and surprisingly deep. Just pick up an Akai synthstation 25 and you are good to go!!! Oh, and only $1.99?! Seriously? If you like synths this is not to be missed.

Good sound engine, tons of tweakability. Works perfectly with akai synthstation and iPhone4. Love it, worth the $.

This app is a piece of crap. It says it is compatible with iPads, but it isnt. This app also made me pay when I already bought it on. An iPod. Dont waste your money or time.

This app is great to use with Akai Synthstation 25 (the midi controller keyboard not the app) and DAW Multitrack. DAW Multitrack can play in the background while you record your performance in Nlog to an audio file that can be exported to the audio clipboard and pasted into DAW Multitrack. One limitation is that the recorder in Nlog is limited to 60 seconds so you may have to break up the performance into several copy/paste takes. Still very cool and useful anyways. Sounds like this 60 second recording limitation is on the developers to do list.

This synth is done with class and style bringing an authentic feeling of an analog synth and delivering a powerful sound, while providing an abundance of features. Great job!

This is a very capable synth. Beautiful sound quality. Virtual midi and audio copy make this a must for iOS music production. My only wish would be longer recording time. Otherwise perfect.

I was wondering why my old nlog woudnt update but now i see why, great app awesome buy definetly a recommendation to music creators

Just what i was looking for. I love the sounds, features and most of all the ability to import/export. I really want to give it 5 stars but there is one feature that is missing that would make this an amazing app and that is the ability to adjust the midi notes (in the tape tab) in some sort of piano roll. Please update it would be a great feature for a wonderful app.

Really good app but the price is ridiculous

I use it wit my synthstation25 and its great, its got a great analog sound, great presets and room for your own sounds.

Cool but the sound goes away and I have to reload the app to get it back. Is there a master volume knob that Im missing?

NLog was one of the first synth apps for iOS, and is still one of the best. The programmer has a deep understanding of sound and sound algorithms, and he has continued to refine his apps with more features and more efficiency. For example, there are lots of music apps that can upload recordings TO SoundCloud, but how many are there that can download a recording FROM SoundCloud and either play it in the background or copy it to the clipboard? You can complain about the way patches are organized (by author instead of type), but not about the actual sound. Another feature that serious musicians will appreciate: NLog knows that its not the only music app on your iPod or iPad, so it works smoothly with other instruments and controllers (such as Geo, Cantor, SoundPrism, ThumbJam, Little MIDI Machine, or Genome MIDI Sequencer).

I was using the Akai SynthStation app for my SynthStation 25, but also liked the nLog better actually and used it more even than the Akai I just saw this update and was excited because I use an old iPhone and I thought app developers just focus on iPad apps for synth/DAW type apps I dont write reviews until Im 100% stoked! And I am glad to say great job! Keep up the great work! An excellent piece of outboard gear! For studio work as well as live performances !!!!!
